London Marathon runners to raise £45,000!
On 26th April 2015, our plucky team of 13 took on the 26.2 miles of the London Marathon, in support of St Joseph's Hospice. So far the team have raised £41,000 and are well on track to hit the £45,000 target!
Our cheerers were out in force to make lots of noise in support of our amazing runners, who had a wide range of running experience from first time marathoners to our seasoned runner Jim, who this year completed his 20th London Marathon for St Joseph's. One of our runners, Melanie said the following about her experience:
"Wow, what an incredible experience the marathon was. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to experience it!
… The crowds, the enthusiasm from them, the sweet little hands sticking out of the human mass, wanting hi-fives, the jelly babies and orange segments that were thrust into your hands, the sticky, almost velcro-esque ground past the Lucozade gel hand-out stations, the trip hazards from the drinks stations, the amazing quiet over the finish line as people suddenly stopped running and realised they had to really concentrate on just being able to walk, or rather, hobble, and the supremely heavy medal that nearly made us all topple forward as it was placed over our heads. All amazing and hugely memorable.
I feel very strange now though... Almost as though I'm going through cold turkey! This running thing is dangerously addictive.
Thank you and the team for all your support and I'm pleased to say, thanks to my hugely generous family, friends, work colleagues and even some strangers, I've managed to exceed my total for St Josephs. I'm so glad to have been running for such a great organisation."
We'd like to say a huge thank you to every member of the team: Thomas, Adam, Jim, Abbey, Christina, Nick, Rachel, William, Melanie, Jitto David, Linda, Martin and Jagmohan.
