On the 12th January, St Joseph’s Hospice was warmly and enthusiastically welcomed when Practice Development Nurse, Tina Morris, and Matron, Debbie Pegram, attended the Careers Event for Student Nurses at City University. Tina and Debbie set up a stall with no free goodies or merchandise, whilst chuckling at the other stalls getting into a pickle with their big fancy banners. Instead, they were equipped with simply their wealth of knowledge and experience and some information leaflets.

According to Debbie, the response exceeded all expectations, bringing with it an amazing feeling of pride in nursing as well as in the work St Joseph’s Hospice does. Several of the students attending the event had experienced St Joseph’s first-hand during placements, while others spoke positively of it through word of mouth. In fact, some of them shared that the Hospice was the best experience during training.

All in all, the event proved to be an invaluable opportunity for networking and recognizing the powerful impact of nursing and our Hospice.
