What our volunteers say
We have around 600 fantastic volunteers working across the Hospice and in the Community giving around 50,000 hours of their time collectively each year.
What our volunteers say about being part of St Joseph’s
‘For me it’s really good to think that our life has a purpose and that we can contribute in someone’s life … one of the main reasons that I want to continue volunteering is that in one way I can make a difference in their lives …. they are really tired and not well, but after the visit … I feel that I made a bit of a difference.’
Support during the pandemic
“I did not expect all this support and have been appreciating it very much. It is an effective way to keep volunteers engaged and updated about how the Hospice is managing to achieve its mission in difficult circumstances. Thank you.”
“The patients & their families are always appreciative of the time spent with them. Their feedback is positive, in how they feel after the care. Families have said that it was a comfort to them knowing that someone was there with their loved one, even if it meant just holding their hands and talking to them.”
