This module is for staff who wish to gain insight and confidence in initiating and facilitating open, honest conversation with patients, carers and families about the end of life, to enable them to plan care for the future.

Learning Objectives
- Understand the importance of effective communication to initiate timely conversations about end of life.
- When effective and timely communication does not take place, understand the implications that this has on patient dignity and outcomes.
- Understand how your own values and beliefs can affect personal responses and interactions with patients and families from many diverse backgrounds.
- Understand key communication strategies and how they can be used to initiate difficult conversations regardless of your role and level of confidence.
