  • Have an awareness of the types and potential causes of pain in advanced cancer and other advanced illnesses
  • Have an appreciation of the holistic dimensions of the lived experience of pain, taking into account the whole person.
  • Understand the core components comprising a holistic assessment of pain attending to physical, psychological, social and spiritual domains of the pain experience.
  • Have an awareness of the most current pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches to manage pain in cancer and other advanced illnesses.
