 CEOs INTRO N
Year Happy ew
from all the team at St Joseph’s Hospice
After a few difficult years with the impact of the pandemic on our services, it is wonderful to see a return to normal St Joseph’s Hospice life. While we know that we are not totally out of the woods yet, our services are back up and running at full capacity and our fantastic volunteers are back with us, and long may it continue.
We are expecting another busy year, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Looking ahead
We know that the UK’s ageing population means the need for specialist palliative and end of
life care will only increase over
the coming years. To support this need, we will continue to work closely with our health and social care partners across East London in the planning and delivery of high quality, accessible patient-centred care. This brings us on to our ward refurbishment update, which you can read all about on page 4.
We are putting the finishing touches to our new Vision 2029 plans, which will replace Vision 2024, with the focus on stability and growth over the next 5 years. As always our priority is our patients, our staff and volunteers, how we raise and spend money and our responsibility to futureproof the Hospice so that we are there for generations to come.
Urgent Chair Appeal
We were overwhelmed by the amazing response to our Urgent Chair Appeal in the last issue of Life magazine. Your generosity has enabled us to purchase not just the adjustable chairs, but also new high-back chairs and rise recliners to make sure our seating on the wards continues to meet the needs of our patients.
Hospice Gardens Awards
In other news, our fantastic gardening team were invited to the London Hospice Gardens Awards night: you can find out how they fared on page 6.
The Hub gets a refresh
We have had a bit of a refresh to the
Hub area which is now in three distinct sections, a quiet area, an information area and a fabulous family area with lots of things for children to do when they come to the Hospice. We also have a new Donation Station where you can make a cash or card donation and you can also drop off your old stamps or unwanted jewellery and mobile phones. We can sell these to raise vital funds for the Hospice.
