The Service has a Welfare Benefits Lead and a team of trained volunteers. Our Welfare Benefits Service can provide support to patients with:

  • Advice and information regarding welfare benefits
  • Help with identifying appropriate benefits by way of benefit calculations
  • Support with benefit applications and maximising income
  • Accessing grants for white goods, furniture, fuel bills and essentials
  • Support with managing benefit overpayments from DWP and Local Authority
  • Help with applying for travel concessions (blue badges, taxi cards, freedom pass, parking permits)

We can provide support to carers on the following:

  • Benefit entitlements
  • Advice on changes on benefit entitlement and how it will affect carers
  • Support with applications of Carers Allowance and Universal Credit Support to bereaved carers on:
  • Support and advice with funeral costs (Funeral Payments)
  • Support applying for charitable grants for funeral expenses
  • Advice and support on new claims for benefits
  • Support applying for Bereavement Benefits.
