Volunteers Week Party 2025: Thank You!

As part of our National Volunteer Week celebrations, we threw a big party at the Hospice on Wednesday to say a massive thank you to all of our fabulous volunteers!

Thank you volunteers!

We had such a fabulous time celebrating our volunteers and all that they do! Delicious cakes and cookies for attendees were generously donated by Violet, thank you so much! It was fabulous to give everyone such a well deserved treat!

A big thank you as well to our brilliant catering team for their hard work putting together a lovely spread of food for the event!

We played a fun party game where people picked questions about volunteering and life from envelopes on the tables and took turns answering them. This was a great chance to get to know everyone a bit better and understand their motivations behind volunteering.

Below are some quotes from our volunteers at the party, sharing why they choose to give their time to St Joseph’s:

“I volunteer because I love being involved in my community and meeting new people.”

“It feels good to know I’m making a difference, even in a small way.”

The Volunteers team created this beautiful display board full of throwback photos of our volunteers over the years and stats about the scale of the impact they make. Did you know over the last year, our incredible volunteers have supported our mission by contributing an average of 31,221 hours of work!

We’ll leave you with a lovely quote from Simon, our Voluntary Services Manager, during his speech:

“The Novelist and poet, Maya Angelou once said that we should all try to be a rainbow in someone else’s cloud, and you all do that every time you are volunteering with us. So for all the times you have shown kindness to others, those moments you have given to people to make them forget, just for a while, the situation or pain they are in, whether it’s by playing a game, sharing a song, or just laughing about every day things. Thank you for being that rainbow.”

Thank you again to our volunteers, we hope everyone had a lovely day out!
