Feedback

Who we are

We are a team of trained volunteers who provide support to patients in their own home or in the local community.

What we do

Our St Joseph’s team train, support and match volunteers with patients
in the community, to deliver a gentle and personalised
enablement/exercise program in their own homes. We encourage
people to manage their symptoms and engage in meaningful activity.
Each individual program is designed by our ELT physiotherapist and is
reviewed regularly.

Who we support

We support patients who are medically stable but may be experiencing:

  • Reduced mobility
  • Anxiety
  • Pain
  • Difficulty with everyday activities
  • Breathlessness
  • Fatigue
  • Low motivation

What you will gain from volunteering

You will gain new knowledge and skills, health related work experience, comprehensive training, regular mentoring and the opportunity to make a real difference to someone’s life.

Previous feedback has shown that our wonderful ELT volunteers have
provided patients with that little bit of extra motivation, confidence,
companionship and fun, keeping them on track to achieve their goals
and feel more independent, therefore improving their quality of life and
making a real difference to people’s lives

Volunteer Training

  • Upcoming Training Dates 2024: Tuesday 12th November, 9am – 5pm

If you volunteer with us you would be required to:

  • Attend 2 days training (learning new and valuable skills!)
  • Complete a relevant criminal record checkAfter that we would match you with a patient in the community (convenient to you) and you would be supported to visit them for one hour a week for an 8 week program.
