Role Overview:

The ideal volunteer will be patient, empathetic, and skilled in guiding individuals through technology.

 

Key Responsibilities:

· Set up the Meta Oculus 2 VR headset for use with patients, ensuring all devices are clean, functioning properly, and ready for use.

· Provide one-on-one guidance to hospice patients, helping them navigate through various virtual experiences that suit their interests and preferences.

· Offer emotional and practical support as patients engage with VR, making sure they are comfortable and safe throughout the experience.

· Assist with troubleshooting any technical issues that may arise during VR sessions.

· Document feedback from patients about their experiences to help improve the program and ensure their comfort.

· Maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of all patients.

 

Time Commitment:

· One day per week, preferably on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.

· A couple of hours per session, with flexibility around patient needs.

 

Skills & Qualities Required:

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and connect with individuals of all ages and backgrounds.

· Comfort with technology and willingness to learn about the Meta Oculus 2 VR headset.

· Empathy and patience, with a genuine interest in supporting hospice patients.

· Ability to work independently.

· Previous experience with virtual reality is a plus.
