The Posh Club visits St Joseph’s Hospice!

On Wednesday 11th December, there was an exciting event at the Hospice as The Posh Club came to visit service users and carers from across our volunteer-led services! Hosted by our Dementia Wellbeing East London (DWEL) service, we were delighted to welcome patients from the Day Hospice, community members from Compassionate Neighbours, and of course our DWEL service users and their carers!

The Lounge was decorated for the occasion, tables were set, and everything looked so lovely and festive. Take a look through the photos below to see!

The Posh Club is a glamorous performance and social club for older people held regularly in five locations across London and the South East. The club was created to help reduce isolation and allow everyone to get out and have fun. It is an older people’s service disguised as high tea at the Ritz!

The special guests invited to our event enjoyed a variety of fun activities and sensory stimulation. Positive sensory stimulation is beneficial for those affected by dementia as it contributes to their wellbeing. It was a fantastic day for all involved. Although hosted by DWEL, this was an event for all of our volunteer-led services and we were thrilled to bring together such a wide range of attendees for the occasion.

One attendee shared their thoughts about the day:

“A thousand thanks from mum and I for the invite to yesterday’s Christmas party. It was a joy for us to be part of an event that made a great difference to our day by meeting up with other people who were also enjoying the same experience. The event was top class in every way and each and every person who attended were truly looked after by small acts of kindness from the staff and volunteers. Please convey our sincere gratitude to everyone for their time and menu of love.”

 

The day was magical, with smiles and laughter filling the room. We want to give a heartfelt thank you to everyone at The Posh Club for their hard work. It was a memorable day that brought some sparkle into everyone’s lives!

A massive shout-out also to the incredible volunteers from DWEL, Compassionate Neighbours and other hospice services who attended and helped made this event such a success. Your kindness and dedication brings so much joy to our service users. We hope everyone enjoyed their day out!
