Michael is a senior ENT surgical trainee at the Royal Marsden Hospital, as part of the Head and Neck Cancer team. He is a clinical lecturer at University College London, and has a PhD in surgical oncology. Outside of work, Michael dedicates time to the care of sick and disabled people who travel on pilgrimage to Lourdes, and is the Chief Medical Officer of the Down and Connor Diocesan Pilgrimage, in the North of Ireland. He represents Ireland on the International Medical Committee of Lourdes, and has founded an Irish national organisation of healthcare professionals who volunteer in Lourdes.
Michael has published numerous articles in relation to his clinical practice and research, and also is a peer-reviewer for surgical journals. He has written blogs for the British Medical Journal and is involved in medical politics, specifically with regard to surgical training.
