We’re proud to share that Sam Perkins, our Hospice Dietitian, has had her article featured in the October edition of Nursing Times. Sam is a valued member of the St Joseph’s Hospice team, providing specialist care to our patients.
The article, titled “Nutrition and Hydration: Best Practice Towards the End of Life,” discusses why nutrition and hydration are important considerations in palliative care and how nurses and other health professionals can best support patients and their families.
Nutrition and hydration are common concerns for patients and their carers towards the end of life. There are many factors which reduce food intake, leading to anxiety around weight loss.
