Life Lanterns

We recently held our special remembrance event at St Joseph’s Hospice, Life Lanterns.

Life Lanterns (2)
Life Lanterns is a special event for bereaved children and their families to make lanterns and remember loved ones.

On the evening of the event, everyone gathered in the garden room, where they were provided with arts and crafts supplies to design their own unique lantern. Each lantern was dedicated to someone special, and participants had full creative control—there were some truly amazing artists in the group, and the lanterns turned out absolutely beautiful.

Once the lanterns were completed, we held a procession into the garden, where we gently placed the lanterns on the pond to float together. It was peaceful and reflective, as everyone paused to remember loved ones. Andy, our Child and Family Counsellor, shared some personal reflections about each person, reading out a sentence or two about what they were like.

It was a special night, filled with love and remembrance. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and made this event so meaningful.

St Joseph’s Hospice offers specialist support to children, young people and families who have lost a family member, care giver or other significant person.
