Trusts and Foundations
We are so grateful to the many Trusts and Foundations that have supported St Joseph’s Hospice’s work since 1905, and are always open to working with new funders.
Some of the many ways in which you can support us:

Help us maintain our buildings and increase the Hospice’s sustainability
Support from Trusts and Foundations has recently enabled us to completely modernise one of our two inpatient wards, St Michael’s Ward, making it brighter and more comfortable for patients and their loved ones.
You could help us replace single glazed windows in older areas of the Hospice, and replace older parts of our roof so we are better insulated and protected from the weather, as part of our ongoing Sustainability Plan.

Purchase furniture and equipment
Funders have recently supported us in purchasing equipment to improve the comfort of our patients, including handheld fans used on wards and at home for breathlessness support.
You could support us to purchase a range of equipment to improve the wellbeing and quality of life for our patients, including specialist wheelchairs and walking frames, speech & language devices, syringe drivers for pain management and more.

Improve quality of life for our patients
We are grateful to Trusts who have recently paid for two Freasels, a specialist art easel that can be used from a wheelchair or bed.
You could contribute towards a watering system to help us keep the Hospice garden looking beautiful whatever the season, to provide patients and visitors with a tranquil outdoor space

Keep our services running
The City Bridge Foundation has recently pledged funding to cover the cost of our Welfare Benefits Service though to March 2027, meaning we can support our patients and their families to maximise their income.
You could support a range of services including Dementia Wellbeing East London through which a team of staff and volunteers work to improve quality of life for people with dementia and their families.
Thanks to our recent funders
We would like to thank the following Trusts and Foundations for their recent generous support:

Charles S French Charitable Trust

City Bridge Foundation
For funding our Welfare Benefits Service for three years – until 2027

The Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners
For supporting our Dementia Wellbeing East London service, helping us to continue providing compassionate care to those with dementia

The Finnis Scott Foundation
For funding bedding plants to keep the Hospice gardens looking beautiful throughout 2026
