Last year, the cost of hospice care for 1 in 7 Londoners was paid for thanks to gifts left in Wills

As part of ‘This is Hospice Care’, we’re proud to have joined forces with hospices across London to change perceptions of hospice care and highlight the vital importance of gifts in wills to help secure the future of palliative care.

Along with the 11 other London hospices in the campaign, we serve a population of millions of Londoners and directly care for over 25,000 people every year and their loved ones. That’s enough people to fill more than 280 London double decker buses.

That’s why a nurse from 10 of the participating hospices came together in Central London to raise awareness of what hospices do and encourage people to consider leaving a gift in their Will to their local hospice.

Why I'm leaving a gift in my Will to St Joseph's Hospice

My husband was cared for by the team at St Joseph’s as an inpatient and then by their community nurses to allow him to pass away in his own home surrounded by family and friends during his last days. The kindness, understanding and help shown to all of us helped us through the worst of times.

I feel very strongly that to give back to the Hospice may enable other families to receive the kindness and care that we did. This is also the reason that when I was in the position to leave a gift in my Will to St Joseph’s, I was very happy to do so in the hope it helps in some small way.”
