This is your chance to celebrate the hard work of our doctors, nurses and the rest of the amazing teams that make St Joseph’s so special by helping us to raise the funds we need to continue providing our care.

By taking on this year’s Great East End Walk you can help ensure we’ll be here for everyone who needs us – for today and for the future.

Over 120 years of St Joseph's Hospice... and 26 years of the Great East End Walk!

Over the past two and a half decades, thousands of amazing people have taken to the streets of East London to raise money for their local Hospice, and in that time have raised an incredible £650,000 and counting!

So whether it’s your first or 10th Great East End Walk, we can’t wait for you to join us on the day. You’ll start here at the Hospice (where you can get some complimentary glitter face paint and take part in our warm up), before setting off on your 3 mile or 10 mile route. The walk will take you around the East End, where you’ll pass our friendly marshals who are there to help you stay on the right track, before looping back to the Hospice to get your medal and have a well-earned cup of tea!

Why is taking part so important?

We have to raise around £6m each year to ensure we can keep supporting everyone who needs us. That’s why we ask each Great East End Walker to raise a minimum of £120 in sponsorship as part of this event.

By reaching the £120 target, you could pay for two specialist speech and language therapy sessions, enabling a patient whose speech has been affected by advanced illness to say the things that really matter to their family.

So not only will your money go directly towards the work of our amazing Hospice, but you’ll also be helping us to raise awareness of St Joseph’s and hospice care.

If you have any additional questions please call 020 8525 3200 or email events@stjh.org.uk

Yes, you can register up to five additional attendees when you book.

If you have supporters who would like to cheer you on at the start and finish, they are welcome to come and meet you at St Joseph’s Hospice.

Do children need to register?

Yes, please register children attending in the Additional Attendees section. Whilst entry for under 18s is free, we need to know who is attending so registration is a must.

Can I fundraise for another charity?

No, as all the costs are covered by the Hospice, we ask that you fundraise for St Joseph’s to help support our important work in the community.

Can I do it virtually on a day of my choice?

Yes, absolutely! If you are unable to make this date but would like to take on the walk in your own time, please let us know at events@stjh.org.uk and we can help.

Can I do a shorter distance than the 10 or 3-mile?

Yes – please let us know in advance at events@stjh.org.uk so we know where you will be on the day.

Where does the walk start and finish?

The Great East End Walk starts and finishes at St Joseph’s Hospice, Mare Street, E8 4SA.

Is there a fundraising target?

Yes, we ask that when you sign up, you commit to raising £120 in sponsorship to help us continue our vital work.

We are a local charity receiving around half of our funding from the NHS, so your fundraising really makes a difference to the people we care for across East London.

I'm walking on my own - will there be other walkers doing the same?

Yes, one of the many amazing things about the Great East End Walk is the chance to chat with other Hospice supporters, and we often have solo walkers. Tick the box on the sign up form to let us know you’d like to join our solo walkers group, or email events@stjh.org.uk to let us know if you’ve already signed up.

Can I bring my dog?

Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome to join you on the walk.

Please note that…
