  • Define breathlessness and be aware of the common mechanisms that may contribute to this symptom in advanced illness.
  • Have an awareness of the reversible causes of breathlessness in advanced illness.
  • Have an appreciation of the holistic dimensions of the lived experience of breathlessness, taking into account the whole person.
  • Understand the core components comprising a holistic assessment of breathlessness attending to physical, psychological and spiritual domains.
  • Have an awareness of the most current pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches to manage breathlessness in cancer and other advanced illnesses.
