Choose Your Cause: Co-op members can now support our Dementia Wellbeing East London project through the Co-op Local Community Fund
We’re delighted to announce that for the next year, Co-op Members can officially support St Joseph’s Hospice’s Dementia Wellbeing East London service (DWEL) as part of the Co-Op Local Community Fund.
If you are a Co-op member, you’ll be able to choose St Joseph’s Hospice as your chosen cause by logging on to your online membership account. The more members who choose us, the more funding will be received for DWEL to offer sensory music sessions for people with advanced dementia living in East London.
How do I get involved?
If you are a Co-op member, simply sign in to your account online at https://membership.coop.co.uk/causes/90282 or via the Co-op app. Select St Joseph’s Hospice as your cause (Cause ID: 90282) or search St Joseph’s Hospice.
About this project
We all have a need to connect with others. DWEL designs activities with this need, and potential benefits to our members, in mind. As part of the DWEL service, we ran a hugely successful sensory music session in May, and now hope to host monthly sessions for people living with advanced dementia in the boroughs of Hackney, City of London, Tower Hamlets, and Newham. These performances offer sensory stimulation that can help people with dementia reconnect with loved ones and find joy in music and creativity. Specialists will lead a variety of known and loved songs, which have been shown to tap into the memory of people with dementia, to sing along and help them feel connected to a community that welcomes them. Music sessions support everyone to be involved, however advanced their dementia.
