St Joseph’s Hospice Welcomes Archbishop Richard Moth of Westminster
On Wednesday 9th September, St Joseph’s Hospice was honoured to receive a special visit from The Most Reverend Richard Moth, Archbishop of Westminster
The Archbishop was warmly welcomed by our CEO, Rachel Black, our Chair of Trustees, Simon Bunce, and members of our Senior Management Team, before touring the hospice, meeting staff and spending time with patients on our wards and in the Day Hospice.
It was a privilege to showcase our exceptional facilities and wide range of services, including our two inpatient wards, St Michael’s and Lourdes, the Day Hospice, and our beautiful chapel.
The Archbishop heard from many of our patients about their lives and their experiences of hospice care. Several staff members also shared how long they have been working with us at St Joseph’s Hospice, and what significance the hospice holds to them. It was really meaningful for our patients, their families and staff to have the opportunity to meet the Archbishop in such a personal manner and discuss the important impact of the compassionate care that hospices provide.
Following the tour, the Archbishop also celebrated a special Mass in the St Joseph’s Hospice chapel with many of our staff and volunteers.
As a Catholic hospice, our heritage continues to inform the ethos of the care and support we provide to the people of East London today, regardless of their faith and background. We are incredibly grateful to Archbishop Moth for taking the time to visit us, meet our wonderful hospice community and show his support for St Joseph’s Hospice.
