Support At The Day Hospice
“When I was asked if I would like to attend the centre at St Joseph’s I was a little apprehensive, but after my first day I was already looking forward to the next visit. I was picked up at my home by George the driver and escort Germaine, who both greeted me with a friendly smile.

At the Day Hospice, Catriona introduced me to other patients, staff and volunteers. We had tea and toast, a chat and time to read the papers and do the crosswords which we do as a group, with lots of laughs as we find the answers. We can do pottery or just relax and listen to John playing the piano quietly in the background.
I’ve tried all of the complementary therapies; aroma therapy, reflexology and acupuncture. They’re great!
We have a tasty lunch then sometimes play bingo, just relax or have some kind of entertainment.
There is medical attention if you are feeling poorly and always support from all the staff.
This is why I enjoy my day at the centre.”
People with life–limiting illness can be referred to the Day Hospice by any health or social care professional within the City of London, Hackney, Newham or Tower Hamlets. |
