WELCOME TO THE EDUCATION AND LEARNING SECTION OF OUR WEBSITE
St Joseph’s Hospice is a long established provider of palliative care, indeed the late Dame Cicely Saunders conducted her initial ground breaking research into symptom management while working here in the late 1950s.
The Education Centre is a fundamental part of St Joseph’s mission to share our knowledge and expertise widely in order that many more people with life limiting illnesses will be able to benefit from the best possible care and support at the end of life.

In order to achieve this, we provide a wide range of study days and courses for health and social care workers and professionals which are specifically designed to meet the needs of our colleagues working in nursing homes, community teams and acute care settings. The study days and courses may be held in the Education Centre or, to increase accessibility to individual groups, at the care providers’ own premises.
We also have an “Active Visitor” service available for groups from the UK and overseas who are interested in palliative care and the work of hospices.
Our 2008 Programme is available online.
